(March 22, 1906, John Spichiac, Slavonian, miner, was instantly killed by
being run over by a steam locomotive at Meadow Lands Mine No. 2. He
was on his way home asn as he was passing under the tipple he stooped down
to pick up a lump a coal to take home. The locomotive was standing
above the tipple, and the alarm was given by ringing the bell that it was
going to start, and the trimmer on the railroad car called to Spichiac but
Spichiac did not hear the warning, the temder of the locomotive passed over
him while he was still in the stooping position.)
