Following is a partial list of the miners, mine employees and company store employees that worked the Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Penn Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA
The Nationalities listed for various miners, are taken directly from "Report of the Department of Mines of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, PA" as reported for the various years.  Those listed as American, could be either native born or naturalized citizens.

(Injured.  Back and breast bruised by a fall of slate, in the Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Oct. 2, 1900.)
Bolam, John
(Miner, Mining Boss ca.1892, Penn Gas No. 1 Shaft Mine, Westmoreland Co., PA.);
(Miner, Mine Foreman ca.1898, Penn Gas No. 1 Shaft Mine, Westmoreland Co., PA.)

(Miner, Cager ca.1889, Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Westmoreland Co., PA, Age 30, married.);
(Injured.  Had his leg broken at the bottom of the shaft, while he was pushing a mine wagon on to the hoisting cage, in the Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Oct. 30, 1889.)
Davis, Thomas
(Welsh Miner, ca.1898, Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Westmoreland Co., PA, Age 40, single.);
(Killed.  Fatally injured by a fall of slate, in the Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Oct. 25, 1898.  He died while being taken home.)
Ditman, Edward
(German Miner, Pick Miner ca.1900, Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Westmoreland Co., PA, Age 36, single.);
(Injured.  Leg broken by a fall of slate, in the Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Feb. 21, 1900.)
Downs, Isaiah
(Miner, ca.1889, Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Westmoreland Co., PA, Age 43, married.);
(Injured.  Leg broken and ankle bone knocked out of joint by a fall of slate, in the Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Feb. 22, 1889.)

Engilhart, Peter
(German Miner, ca.1903, Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Westmoreland Co., PA, Age 45, married, 2 children.);
(Killed. Fatally injured by a fall of roof coal, in the Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, June 26, 1903.  He died three days ;ater.  He was standing at the end of the wagon fixing the coal over the top when the roof coal, which was only three inches thick, came down on him pushing his breast down on the edge of the wagon, and forcing his ribs into his lungs.  He was drawing a chain pillar and shopuld have had more posts set.)

Hern, Harry O.

(Killed.  Fatally injured by a fall of slate, in the Penn Gas No. 1 Mine, Aug. 23, 1898.)
Hughey, Harry C.
(Miner Boy, ca.1889, Penn Gas Shaft No. 1 Mine, Westmoreland Co., PA, Age 19.);
(Killed. Fatally injured by a fall of slate and died in twelve hours afterwards;  the slate measured 5'3" long, 4'8" wide and a foot thick;  Amos Roberts and John Roberts, his son, were working in the rib with Hughey at the time;  John had told him to post the slate but he would not do it, and from the testomony given it appears that he was a careless young man, in the Penn Gas Shaft No 1 Mine, Sept. 20, 1889.)
