Following is a partial list of the miners, mine employees and company store employees that worked the Keystone Shaft Mine, Keystone (Keystone Shaft), Sewickley Twp, Westmoreland Co., PA.  The miners names have been researched and complied from various sources by Raymond A. Washlaski, Historian: newspaper obits, newspaper articles, Bureau of Mines Reports, township histories, and names of miners submitted by various people, etc..
The Nationalities listed for various miners, are taken directly from "Report of the Department of Mines of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, PA" as reported for the various years.  Those listed as American, could be either native born or naturalized citizens.

(Nov. 17, 1906, Charles Ciquette, Italian, machine scraper, was fatally injured at the Keystone Shaft Mine, while shoveling slack from a mining machine.  It seems that the coal that fell upon the deceased had been shattered by the blasting of a former cut and the jarring of the machine finally caused it to fall.)

(Prosecuted for Violations of the Mining Laws:   March , 1910 - Information was made against Sereno Devalyo, a loader, at Keystone Shaft of Keystone Coal & Coke Company, charged with using an open light in No. 2 Butt A, South, a place where explosive gas is generated in sufficient quantities to be detected by an ordinary safety lamp.  Defendant was never arrested and is still a fugitive from justice.)

(Born in Virginia, his father worked on the railroad.);
(Injured.  Ankle cut and broken by fall of coal and slate from rib side while timbering, in the Keystone Shaft Mine, Dec. 28, 1908.)
(He was putting up roofing supports/timbers when the ceiling gave and he was severly gashed and his leg was broken. He was taken by train to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh the next day, an died of blood poisoning and pneumonia on January 13, 1909. There was a coroners inquest, at which mostly the mine personnel and not of the miners in the mine at the time of the accident, gave testimony. Needless to say, the verdict was accidental and the mine was found innocent of any fault in the accident.)
