(Killed. On February 27, 1903, Adam Stenger met with an accident caused
by miners working in a parallel mine. The miners put off their blast of powder
without warning him. The shot tore a hole through the wall and struck him
with terrific force, cutting his face and body and causing internal injuries.
He died the next day, Saturday, February 28, 1903. Interrment in Circle Hill
Cemetery, Punxsutawney, Pa. Mr. Stenger was one of four coal miners who were
first to strike pick for the R & P.C.& I. Company, having made the
opening at No. 1 Walston Mines.)
