(May 20, 1905, Peter Gallagher, miner, was instantly killed at the Paul Mine
by a fall of slate in a narrow room in the slope pillars. He, in company
with his father, was loading a mine car when the draw slate fell without
any warning. The place was properly timbered on the one side and had
been examined by both men and was considered safe. A slip was running
parallel with the side of the room, but was concealed by the coal on the
side of the pillar, thus leaving no support except that resting on the coal.)

at the junction of the loaded and empty tracks. Tyler was standing
between the tracks near this point and was struck by the front mine wagon.
He died two hours later.)
