(July 26, 1905, John Danage, miner, was killed at the Nellie Mine by a fall
of roof in pillar workings. It seems the victim had taken out all the
posts in order to let the roof fall, and in order to hasten matters he went
back into the skip and cut a small coal pillar that had been left to hold
back the previous fall. While engaged in cutting the small coal stump
that had been left standing, the roof fell in on him.)
