Hopwood Mine, In good condition. The equipment for coal loading plant was installed and put into operation this year. No coke ovens at this mine. Development had previously been made by Leith Mine, a portion of the coal area of the latter forming the coal field for the new plant. The equipment consists of a well timbered rock slope heading 150 feet in length, wood tipple with 80 tons bin capacity, ample yard trackage for storage and loading purposes, 3,500 feet on the mine haulage road, including connections to landings, laid with 35-pound rail; mule haulage road improved by grading, ballasting, and relaying a portion of the same with ne iron; minety-five 40 bushel pit wagons installed. The ventilation was improved by building 38 permanent stoppings. Three 150 horsepower horisontal tubular boilers were installed, manufactured by the Titusville Iron Company, one 600 horsepower Pittsburg feed water heater, second motion haulage engine, ten double block tenement houses, frame boiler house 39 feet x 58 feet, frame engine house 32 feet x 38 feet, repair shop 20 feet x 30 feet and barn 40 feet x 98 feet. Complete water system installed for the plant, including water tank with capacity of 22,000 gallons. |
