| HISTORY:
[From the Report of the Department of Mines of Pennsylvania Report for 1906.] Crossland Mine, In good consition. A rock slope 200 feet long has been driven and the New Slope has been graded and laid with 35 pound haulage iron. A wood tipple has been constructed, having a bin capacity of 400 tons. A frame boiler house was constructed in which are installed two 150 horsepower tubular boilers of the Titusville type, one 500 horsepower Pittsburg feed water heater, one Yough and one Cameron feed pumps, and one 12 x 14 Hall air compressor. A frame repair shop 26 feet X 40 feet was also constructed and a frame engine house in which are installed on 14 x 18 second motion single drum haulage engine of the Vulcan type and one 3 x 6 x 12 Guibal ventilating fan. Four double blocks of tenement houses were built to which the water system was extended with hydrants for domestic use and fire plug for protection; also two water tanks having a capacity of 36,000 gallons each. Twenty additional coke ovens, together with necessary wharf wall, yard track, etc., were built, making this a 120 coke oven plant. |
