Coal Brook Mine & Coke Works (ca.1879-1918),
Located near the old Pa Rt. 119, south of Moyers, Bullskin Twp., on the Western Pennsylvania Railroad, Coal Brook, Connellsville Twp., Fayette Co., PA.

[Coalbrook is noted on the topographical maps as ColdBrook.]
[Coalbrook Coke Works contained 70 coke ovens ca.1889.]
[In 1910 the Coal Brook Coke Works contained 120 coke ovens.]
[Coal Brook Mine was a drift opening mine.]

Coal Brook is misspelled as Coldbrook on the Connellsville, PA 15 min. Topographical Map, 1936 ed.

HISTORY:

The following information on the Coalbrook Mine is taken from the "Report of the Inspectors of Mines of the Anthracite and Bituminous Coal regions of Pennsylvania, for the year 1889."
Coalbrook Mine.  Located on the P.S.W.R.R., near Moyers, PA.  Drift opening.  Natural ventilation and single entries.  Condition of this mine is very good and my only objections to it are its natural ventilation and single-entry system of working.  McClure Coke Company owners.  (Report Inspectors of Mines of Pennsylvania,1890:358).
