From the Second Geological Survey of Pennsylvania 1875.

Messrs. Dillinger & Suttle are operating the Enterprise Works at Hawk Eye Station, East Huntingdon Twp., Westmoreland County.  They work the Pittsburg Coal Bed, nine feet thick, with the small slate binder three feet above the floor.  The coal is all taken out and is used in the coke ovens, except some little custom coal.  The coal lies here one hundred feet above the railroad, and is sinking gently to the south-east.

There are forty-one Beehive Bank Ovens if the usual size.  The charge is three wagons for four days, and three and a half wagons for two days, and the ovens are worked as usual, making forty-eight coke, except the seventy-two hour Sunday coke.  Twenty-four cars are shipped weekly, in all 15,000 bushels, mostly to Pittsburg.  There are 15 men employed at the works.
