A Memorial to the Coal Miners that Worked
Crows Nest Mine (ca.1910-1944)
Following is a partial list of the coal miners, mine employees and company store employees that worked the Crows Nest Mine, of Keystone Coal & Coke Company, Bovard (Crows Nest), Hempfield Township, Westmoreland Co., PA.    The miners names have been researched and complied from various sources by Raymond A. Washlaski, Historian: newspaper articles, newspaper obits, Pennsylvania Bureau of Mines Reports, town histories,  township histories, and names of miners submitted by various people, etc..  No coal company records of employees exist, or have been found.
The Nationalities listed for various miners, are taken directly from "Report of the Department of Mines of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, PA" as reported for the various years.  Those listed as American, could be either native born or naturalized citizens.

(Killed.  Fatally burned by explosion of gas and dust.  They made a fall in pillar work and then went back to their buckets while the strata settled.  When they returned to the face of the pillar with an open light that they were using, the gas was ignited, in Crows Nest Mine, April 3, 1914.  Delesant died the following day and Massini died 5 days later.)
