Mulbridge, William

(Killed. Willaim Mulbridge, miner, was killed by a fall of slate in
the Laurel Hill No. 1 Mine, on August 3, 1892. This man in company
with another miner was blasting and loading the coal, after it was under
mined by the mining machine. It was shown at the investigation that
they both knew of the danger and had spoken to each other in regard to it,
but the deceased either forgot himself, or carelessly went under the loose
slate for some purpose, when it fell upon him, and his butty, when returning
to the room after a few minutes' absence, found him.);
(Wm. Muldridge, while at work in Laurel Hill 1 mine, was instantly killed
by a fall of slate. He was a single man and lived with his sister in Rend's
Blocks. Had been in this country only a short time, having arrived from England
on June 27, and was expecting to send for his mother and sister, who are
in the old country when he met his death. [from the "McDonald

Putt, Paul
(French Miner Boy, Mule Driver ca.1892, Laurel Hill No. 1 Mine, Allegheny
Co., PA, Age 15.);
(Killed. Paul Putt, mule driver, was fatally injured in the Laurel
Hill No. 1 Mine on May 7, 1892, and died the next day. Was injured
by being crushed between a coal car and a post which was set on the side
of roadway leading into a room. No one saw the accident and it is rather
uncertain how it occurred, but it is supposed that he was riding on the front
end of the full mine car with his body partly projecting beyond the side,
and he came in contact with the post with such violence as to cause
death.);
(Last Saturday a 16-year-old son of Mr. Puzzi, a Frenchman living at
Millers Crossing, was so badly injured in Laurel Hill mine by being
caught between the dilly wagon and the wall of the mine that he died on Sunday.
He was a driver in the mine. Interment at Arlington on Tuesday. [from the

(John Toath was killed at Laurel Hill Mine No. 5 Friday morning. He was engaged
in cleaning out a steel gondola and was between the doors that open at the
bottom of the cars, when the shifter pushed up some cars and knocked him
down, killing him instantly. No one saw the accident, but the way he was
lying when found indicates that this is the way he met his death.
